Good Day Hudson Fam!

In the hopes of celebrating our children and the joys of their youth while trying to regain a sense of a social community, as of October 25, 2021, the Department of Education has provided the following guidance regarding indoor and outdoor events at schools for the 2021-2022 school year, and we will be following these same set guidelines:

GUIDANCE FOR INDOOR & OUTDOOR EVENTS AT SCHOOLS

For all events that the public may attend, such as sports competitions, talent shows, award
ceremonies, school festivals, and PTA-run events, schools must ensure the following:

What is Mandatory?

  • All attendees must wear a face covering and complete the daily health screening

questionnaire.
Attendees who are age-eligible to receive the COVID-19 vaccine:

  • Must show proof of vaccination (receipt of at least one dose) when attending

indoor events.

  • Must show proof of vaccination (receipt of at least one dose) when attending

outdoor events that require access to the school building.

What is Recommended?
For all events that the public may attend, it is recommended that schools:

  • Seat family groups at least 3 feet away from other groups as much as possible;
  • Limit capacity to allow individuals/groups to sit at least 3 feet away from other

individuals/groups;

  • Consider limiting tickets (e.g., 2 for tickets per family); and
  • Offer live-streams of any performances, wherever possible.

Please Note: Public school students in grades 3K through 12 attending school or school-related
activities in a DOE building are not required to show proof of COVID-19 vaccination.

Other School Events
School Photos

  • Vendors/photographers hired by HHSLT must comply with the visitor mandate and show proof of receipt of at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.
  • Photographers should take photos outdoors when possible, or in a well-ventilated indoor space.
  • Photographers must remain masked while on DOE property and stay 6 feet away from

student to the greatest extent possible.

  • Group/class photos are not permitted; photographers should offer a composite class

photo instead.

Dances/Prom

  • All attendees must wear a face covering and complete the daily health screening

questionnaire.

  • All attendees must be fully vaccinated in order to attend the dance/prom.

At this time, dances are not permitted for students ages 11 and under.

Field Trips
For the 2021-22 school year, schools may take field trips across New York City and tristate area (NY, NJ, & CT). At this time, out-of-tristate area school trips and all overnight trips (local/domestic/international) are not permitted. Future trip guidance is subject to COVID-19 positivity rates, variants, and continued CDC guidelines.

Field trips can take place settings under the conditions that:
● Students and staff remain in stable groups;
● Wear face coverings for the duration of the trip (even when outdoors);
● Maintain physical distancing when possible; and,
● Make every effort to keep students from interacting with the general public at trip sites.

Examples of permitted trips include:
● Walks around the neighborhood;
● Visits to parks, zoos, botanic gardens; and,
● Visits to cultural institutions (e.g. theaters, concert halls, dance centers, and museums).

Transportation
● Charter coach buses will be utilized for travel since yellow busing is currently unavailable.
● If charter coach buses are not feasible, schools may use public transportation.
● Schools must ensure that students remain masked at all times while in transit.

We have all learned over the past couple of years that these protocols can change over the course of time. While we always hope for the best outcome, planning for many possibilities is key. The Hudson High School of Learning Technologies community will do its best to keep you informed and up-to-date so you and your child can make the best possible decisions with your health and safety in mind. You can also follow safety measures being taken on the DOE website:

As always, you are invited and encouraged to contact me with any questions, concerns, or comments you might have. Thank you all so much, keep safe, and have a grand day!

Best,
